Thank you for your interest in the undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the Centre for Peace Studies, Faculty of Education. Centre for Peace Studies offers a program of courses leading to the award of Degree qualifications at various levels.

The prevailing level of development in educational studies has resulted in global challenges in the field of information/communication technology driven economy which make modern system of education very importance. Building on many years of training and excellence in education studies of the Faculty members, the Faculty of education at the CPS offers various courses on education that provide students with a sound educational leadership supplemented by the instructional skills required in today’s workforce. The concepts of education studies no longer apply only to large established universities and other similar research institutions. It now embraces dynamic educational settings of all sizes and types. MISSION STATEMENT OF THE FACULTY

1. Provides facilities for a qualitative education and training in Educational Management for young men and women for initial entry into careers in Educational Management, for mid-career Educational Management and for the continuous development of practicing Educational Managers and administrators,
2. Engage in research into local, national and international Educational Management problems and also to contribute to the development and use of knowledge in the field of Educational Management thereby helping to improve the Educational Management profession by prescribing solutions to match specific Educational Management problems,
3. Provide for the development of teachers and researchers in Educational Management, 
4. Establish a resource for development of case studies and materials for teaching of Educational Management courses to teachers at the tertiary institutions and to Educational Managers and administrators from Business and industries, and
5. Offer research and consultancy services in Educational Management and related fields for the benefit of organizations either in the private or public sectors or to state and federal governments that might require such services.

Our students learn to address the real problems of practical education and gain insight into the activities, behaviors and strategies of people, organizations, markets and industries within the purview of the education sector. Our teaching methods are fused with analysis and actions so that classes are simultaneously demanding, fun, intense and always dynamic. Our goal is to create an environment where students learn how to tackle difficult and complex educational leadership problems. Students learn what they feel like to exercise judgment, make tangible and practical decisions and take responsibilities in their places of work.

We are a multicultural Faculty, representing many countries and speaking many languages. During their studies here, students work with Faculty members who are nationally and internationally recognized for their research, academic and publications as well as their excellence in teaching of practical courses in educational technology. Our students, diploma and degree graduates are among the brightest, most principled and accomplished young people of our time. We are proud to graduate people who are committed to high standards and have the capacity to work hard and be dynamic and versatile leaders not only of today but also of tomorrow’s world of modern education.

 

The Faculty has academic programs in various Departments as shown above. The Faculty aims at training articulate and professionally competent leaders in educational industry imbued with the right attitude to work for the service of mankind in their respective fields. The Faculty also aims at promoting, advancing and disseminating knowledge in the field of education studies, and to explore the use of such knowledge for the advancement of the society. Also, the Faculty emphasizes an integrated approach in which students not only specialize in specific areas but also take core courses in Departments within and outside the Faculty. In addition, the Faculty places high premium on research and organization of conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia for the advancement of knowledge and the society generally.
